Our Story

TLA was born from the real-life legal frustrations of its two co-founders — Mac and Alex.

Both faced legal hurdles in their personal lives — ranging from property disputes to navigating complex bureaucratic procedures — and found themselves overwhelmed by the lack of simple, understandable legal guidance.

Driven by that experience, they decided to create something different: a platform where legal information could be made clear, approachable, and free for everyone.

As passionate law enthusiasts, they reached out to their networks of law professors, retired legal advisors, librarians, and educators. They spent months researching U.S. law — online and offline — digging through books in public legal libraries, consulting professors at local law schools, and even speaking with practicing attorneys to ensure what they were building was responsible, factual, and helpful.

And that’s how TLA came to life — not from a boardroom, but from the everyday struggles of real people trying to make law make sense.
